THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY:
 

The District Attorney sets the policies and goals of the office and directs the activities of the office.  He is assisted by three Assistant District Attorneys.  

The Trial Division prepares cases investigated by local law enforcement and handles the day to day prosecution of criminal cases in the 35th Judicial District Court.  

JUVENILE DIVISION:  

The Juvenile Division evaluates complaints against juvenile offenders and prosecutes all juveniles charged with criminal acts.  In addition, the division handles abuse and neglect cases where children are themselves the victims.

CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT:  

The Child Support Enforcement Division prosecutes parents criminally for failure to meet their financial obligation to support their children.  The division collects and distributes monies recouped to certified petitioners and to AFDC.  

PRE-TRIAL INTERVENTION:  

This program is designed as an alternative to prosecution for first time, non-violent offenders.

POST CONVICTION APPLICATIONS:  

Assistant District Attorneys review pardon and parole applications of defendants convicted in Grant Parish.  If the Assistant District Attorney determines that the request is from an inmate whose release poses a danger to others, the request will be opposed.  

VICTIM/WITNESS ASSISTANCE:  

The program provides information on the criminal justice process, availability of public or private programs for counselling or treatment and assists the victim/witness in preparation for court proceedings.  

WORTHLESS CHECK PROGRAM:  

To effectively process and/or prosecute offenders under the Issuing Worthless Checks Law, Louisiana Statute 14:71
